Chile Pepper XC Festival

Posted: September 26, 2017 in Uncategorized

Runners & Superfans,

This Saturday the Strafford high school cross country team will be traveling to Fayetville, Arkansas to run in the annual Chile Pepper cross country festival on the grounds of the University of Arkansas.  The Chile Pepper is one of the largest xc events in the nation and attracts teams from all over Midwest for a great day of running.  Runners will be leaving from SHS at 6:30 a.m. sharp and will return to SHS around 6 p.m., but we will definitely have them call you when we are traveling back to Strafford.  Students may want to bring some money for souvenirs but lunch is provided by the Chile Pepper festival and we will also be stopping for pizza in Bentonville (Pedaler’s Pub) on the way home which will be covered by the cross country team.  I pasted the details and schedule below but please feel free to email me or text if you have any questions.

Runners & Superfans,

Here is the down low on all you need to know for the upcoming Stockton invitational.  Students will be released at 2:10 to board the bus and should return to SHS by 7:30 p.m.  Below is the information for the meet.

4:00…………..Coaches Meeting

4:15…………..7-8th grade boys and girls (1.5m)

4:35…………..HS Boys

5:10…………..HS Girls

Location: Stockton High School

1st &  2nd  place team plaques in varsity races; 1st place plaques to for Junior High

Top 20 medal for varsity races

Top 15 medal for junior high races (boys and girls medal separately)

** This course is fairly challenging with a majority of the race being run on the Stockton golf course.  Races will start and finish on Stockton high school grounds.

As it is still early in the racing season, we will be running ALL high school girls in one race and ALL high school boys in one race- there will be no Junior Varsity race.  I feel like this gives each runner a chance to race head-to-head with the entire field to compete for a varsity spot down the road.

Runners & Superfans

All runners will need to bring their uniform to practice on Thursday. We need to take a group picture for the school magazine. This is not the regular team picture where you purchase photos. We will have that day in October. Following the photo we will have our normally scheduled practice.

Runners & Superfans,

We have had a change in the meet schedule and wanted to make you aware of what is happening.  We will no longer be attending the Bolivar invitational on Tuesday the 12th but instead will be going to Lebanon on the 11th.  I hope this will not put a burden on any family and will only be a slight adjustment in the week.

Thank you

Duane Fabro

  • We will be selling t-shirts again this year
  • There is no running water at this facility
  • There will be a concession stand
  • Tents will be allowed in certain areas

DIRECTIONS: Course is located at the end of Peggy Road. From Jefferson Street/South Hwy 5 take a left on Mountrose go approximately 1 mile, take a right on Peggy and you are there! Signs will be posted!

Course Information; Footing is decent. Entire course is on mowed grass. Most of the course is relatively flat with rolling hills. In terms of overall course quality I would say it is as good as you can find other than being on a well maintained golf course. This is one of the few one loop courses in the area. I have made it as coach/spectator/athlete friendly as possible.

Rogersville Jr. High Meet

Posted: September 6, 2017 in Uncategorized

Runners & Superfans,

Tomorrow the jr. high will be racing at the Rogersville jr. high meet on the ground of Rogersville high school.  This is a small meet with only 4 schools and should be a great experience for the kids.  Races start at 4 and runners can leave once they’ve finished, cooled down, and stretched.  Please have them sign out with either me or Coach Clements.

High school runners will be traveling to Rogersville for the meet, but will not be racing. They will be training with the Rogersville high school team in a cooperative practice. All students should be back to Strafford high school by 6:00 p.m.

Hope to see you there.
