Runners & Superfans,

The cross country team had a great weekend of running at the University of Arkansas’s Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival. It was definitely worth the drive to Fayetville to have 14 runners set personal records and 7 runners run season bests at this meet.  We had great weather, a great course, and great competition to help push all the kids to their absolute best.  I was so proud of how the kids ran and handled themselves as competitors and sportsmen.  Thank you to Coach Clements and all the kids for making this a great weekend.

Huge congratulations to Shane Burns who lowered his old school record of 16:38 to the new school record of 15:52.  This is an average mile time of 5:06 for the 3.1 miles.  Shane finished 23rd out of 658 runners from all over the Midwest. The team also had a great finish placing 31st out of 82 teams.  I know that may not sound great but the competition was huge and the teams were awesome.

Thanks to all the parents who support their kids in running and allowing them to attend this meet.  I hope they had a great time and enjoyed the festive atmosphere.  If you would like to see the complete results you kind find a link to mo.milesplit.com in the links page at the top.  Search under “Results” for the Chile Pepper Festival.

Thanks

Runners & Superfans,

This Saturday is the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival at the University of Arkansas in Fayetville, AR. The Chile Pepper is a national cross country race and will have some of the best teams from multiple states.  The whole event is a true festival and a great opportunity for our runners to run with some of the best kids in the midwest. I will post the itinerary of times below, but wanted to remind everyone of a few facts.

  1. Students who want to purchase souvenirs will need to bring their own money as they have a large tent of items for sale and they are usually pretty cool.
  2.  Runners will need to eat breakfast before they get here and have some small snack with them to eat around mid morning before the race starts.  We will not be stopping for breakfast.
  3. Following the race, all runners receive free mexican food if they choose to eat.  The team will also be stopping at Peddler’s Pub Pizza in Bentonville AR to eat as a group. The cost of this meal will be covered by the team’s fundraising money.
  4. There is also a lot of walking from the parking area to the cross country meet. Please make sure that all superfans are aware of this and can make the walk.  Reminder this is a high school race only.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks

Coach Fabro
