Great Start To The Season:

Posted: September 27, 2013 in Uncategorized

Parents, Runners,& Superfans,
It’s been a great start to the season for the Strafford XC team. Our invitational was a huge success with the boys placing 1st & the girls second. That was followed up by a sweep of the Willow Springs invitational with both teams finishing first and scoring some sweet champion’s t-shirts. The third week found us at the Boliver Invitational and up against some big school competition. With a valiant effort the kids ran tough and finished well with the boys placing second and the girls 4th. This Tuesday we had a great experience and an even better run on the very difficult Stockton cross country course. Thanks to Coach Sanderson for hosting a great meet on a beautiful course. Justin Bond accepted the challenge of pacing the varsity boys through the first two miles and helping the boys to a great second place finish. It was one of the best races I’ve seen the boys run in a long time; all the boys looked great. Following the boys, the girls tried their luck on the big course. Rachel Bareford was patient through the first mile and slowly worked her way into first holding off a challenge from the El Dorado runner and going on to win the race with a sizable lead. Following her in was a pack of Lady Indians who brought home a second place finish.
Next week will take us again north to Pleasant Hope on Tuesday October 1st with a first race time of 4:00 pm.

Thanks to all the super moms who have kept us well fed after the meets. The kids and coaches really appreciate it.

Runners, Parents, and Superfans,

Before I get to the Willow Springs information I would like to say a HUGE thank you to all the amazing parent, family, and alumni help at the Strafford invitational.  We had over 300 runners participating in the event and everything went great.  It was hot and hectic and because of you we were able to host a great meet.  The first meet of the year is always an interesting affair and I’m happy to say the you guys were able to help the cross country team deliver a first class event.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.
