Parents, Runners, & Superfans,

The Strafford Indians had another great running last night at the Iron Mountain Invitational.  Kids were back on the old course and were tackling the famous Iron Mountain.  Thanks to Coach Bertoldie for a great race and some awesome apples.

The boys and girls both ran an epic race with the boys finishing 1st and the girls were 2nd behind Springfield Catholic.  This was our last invitational before the district and state weekends.  All jr. high races are concluded and all jv races as well.  From this point forward we just allowed 7 runners in the boys and girls race.  This doesn’t mean that practice is over for the high school.  It takes all of us to have a great program and it takes all of us to win.

This is from the meet director at Fordland:

Fordland will host our 11th annual “Iron Mtn Run” on Tuesday, October 22nd.  After an experimental year on the grass, this year we plan to go back to the old road course.  While the old course is not nearly as fan friendly as last years’ course, it is a nice challenging run for those preparing to run the hilly Oak Hills State Championship course.  This year we have also rearranged the starting times back in the races, putting the High School races back to the beginning (due to traffic issues).  In addition to the plaques that were introduced in the Jr. High division last year, we have also added an additional 5 medals to each Jr. High race.  Finally, we are hoping to bring back our traditional apples at the finish area for the competitors (and coaches).   The course begins and ends at Fordland High School.

Time: Coaches meeting 3:45 PM

Varsity Boys 4:00 PM

Varsity Girls 4:35 PM

Jr. High B & G 5:10 PM

Awards:  1st & 2nd place H.S. Boys & Girls Team Plaques.

1st & 2nd place Jr. High Boys & Girls team plaques

25 Varsity Boys & 20 Varsity Girls medals

*15 Boys & 15 Girls Jr. High medal

Strafford runners will be released at 2:10 to change and board the bus.  We should arrive back at SHS by 6:30 pm.
