XC info for the week of 9/26-10/1

Posted: September 26, 2016 in Uncategorized

Runners & Superfans,

Here is a break down of what is happening with Strafford cross country this week.

Tuesday 9/27 – Lamar Invitational @ Lamar Country Club. High School only and no jr. high practice on Tuesday.

Students will be released from class at 1:15 to board the bus and can expect to arrive back to SHS around 9 p.m.  Parents and superfans should know that we are going to this meet to preview the course only and will not be racing.  I know this may sound unconventional for most sports but I want the kids to have some good legs for the Chile Pepper on Saturday and racing on Tuesday would be to much.  The varsity boys will be running as a group with set times for each mile, this will mimic our normal practice on Tuesdays. Runners riding  back on the bus will stop for some food on the way home so they should budget some money accordingly.  We also have plenty of snacks for before and after the race so that will not be necessary.

Varsity girls 4:50

Varsity boys 5:30

JV Boys & Girls 6:00

Saturday October 1st Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival Fayetville Arkansas. High School Only

Bus leaves SHS at 6:45 am

  • Senior High Boy’s “El Caliente” (Varsity-5K) 11:00 a.m.
  • Senior High Girl’s “El Caliente” (Varsity-5K) 11:30 a.m.
  • Senior High Boy’s Open (5K) 12:15 pm.
  • Senior High Girl’s Open (5K)  1:00 p.m.
  • Awards – Senior High School 1:45 p.m.

Bus will return to SHS around 5:30 p.m.  We will call when we know the exact time.

Runners should eat a nutritious breakfast and dress for the weather.  Food is provided at the race and we will also be stopping for some great wood fired pizza on the way home (cross country’s treat).  Runners and superfans may want to bring some money for chile pepper merchandise which is usually very cool and available for purchase.  Hope you can join us and come enjoy one of the most exciting meets of the year.

Fellows Lake 5000 a Great Success

Posted: September 4, 2016 in Uncategorized

Runners & Superfans,

Thank you all very much for your help this weekend in making our invitational a huge success.  We received tons of compliments from the coaches and parents and that was all due to your incredible volunteering this weekend.  Coach Clements and I appreciate you all so much.

The kids all ran extremely well and I’m definitely excited about the rest of the season.  Don’t forget we will be hosting the conference meet at Fellows Lake on October 13th and will need some help at that meet as well.

Here are the times and results from this weekend:

2016 SHS MS boys & girls results

2016 SHS xc JV boys results

2016 SHS XC Varsity boys results

2016 SHS XC Varsity Girls Results

Thanks again for your help and lets go have a great season

Coach Fabro

Runners & Superfans,

We are looking for some great parents and superfans to help us at this weekend’s “Fellows Lake 5000” cross country meet.  Currently we have 28 schools registered to attend and this means we will need lots of help.

In an effort to get things more organized we will be hosting a parent and runners dinner at Fellows Lake on Friday night at 6 pm.  Please meet us at the inlet pavilion for pasta & salad and to get signed up for a job.  All the jobs are very easy and none of them require any running.  We will need people to help with parent parking, coach registration and bus parking, selling tshirts and handing out popsicles, & the ultimate experience of working the finish line.  Like I said, all the jobs are very easy but we need the people there to help. All runners and volunteers will need to be at Fellows Lake at 7 am on Saturday morning.  Runners will need to check in with Coach Clements when they get there.

Should you not be able to join us on Friday please feel free to email me at duanef@straffordschools.net or text me at 417-379-6764 and I will get you signed up.

You can also receive all this information by email by signing up to follow us at:

Thank you for supporting your child in cross country and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Thanks

Duane Fabro
